Responsibilities
The General Labourer supports day-to-day site operations at CFS Alert by completing material handling, maintenance assistance, and general upkeep tasks in a remote Arctic environment.
- Load and unload cargo, materials, supplies, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform shoveling and snow removal to support access, safety, and site operations.
- Assist other trades on site with labour support as required.
- Complete general site maintenance and help maintain an orderly, clean worksite.
- Perform painting and light maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Fuel vehicles and support equipment readiness.
- Run errands and support logistics by processing deliveries and moving items to required locations.
- Carry out other duties assigned by a higher authority, including unplanned or short-notice tasks.
Requirements
To succeed in this fly-in/fly-out labourer role at CFS Alert, candidates must be dependable, safety-focused, and capable of physically demanding work in harsh Arctic conditions.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License (required).
- Ability to obtain Reliability level security clearance.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in labourer duties, customer service, or a related role.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a small, multi-cultural, team-oriented department.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work locations.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work under physically demanding conditions and adverse weather in remote Arctic locations.
- Ability to work with minimal oversight while following directions closely.
