Responsibilities

The General Foreman oversees and coordinates heavy equipment and labor crews, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency at the project site.

  • Supervise and schedule operators and laborers
  • Assign work based on job and site needs
  • Conduct safety meetings and approve FLHAs
  • Monitor compliance and inspect operations
  • Train, evaluate, and mentor team members
  • Estimate resources and manage costs
  • Maintain records and report to Site Manager
  • Ensure adherence to company safety standards

Requirements

Applicants must have extensive equipment operation experience and leadership capabilities.

  • Minimum 5 years of equipment operating experience
  • Successful career progression
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency
  • Strong understanding of safety legislation
  • Conflict resolution and team management skills
  • Class 5 driver's license required (Class 3 or 1 an asset)
  • Valid CSTS and OSSA or CSO ticket
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)

Horizon Oil Sands Project

The Horizon Oil Sands Project, located approximately 70 kilometers north of Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada, is a significant oil sands mining and upgrading operation owned and operated by Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL). The project encompasses surface mining of bitumen, extraction, and on-site upgrading to produce high-quality synthetic crude oil (SCO). Since its inception, Horizon has undergone several expansions to enhance production capacity and operational efficiency. As of 2024, the mine produces approximately 250,000 barrels per day of SCO, with plans to increase capacity by an additional 195,000 barrels per day. The project is a key contributor to Albertas energy sector and plays an important role in Canadas oil production.
