Agnico Eagle Mines is hiring an Exploration Assistant Coordinator for its remote exploration operations at the Hope Bay Project in Nunavut. Working a 14/14 fly-in/fly-out rotation with flights from Edmonton or Yellowknife and full on-site camp accommodations, this salaried role supports the planning, supervision, and execution of exploration drilling programs. The position involves core logging QA/QC, geological modeling, data and database management, and interpretation work. The successful candidate will assist in leading technical staff, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting target generation and reporting for gold exploration within Archean terrain. Strong technical knowledge in geoscience, familiarity with software like Leapfrog and ArcGIS, and a proactive team approach are essential.

Responsibilities

The Exploration Assistant Coordinator will support and co-lead exploration activities with a focus on drill supervision, geological modeling, QA/QC, and data management.

  • Assist with planning and supervision of diamond drilling programs
  • Supervise logging staff and core shack operations
  • Conduct QA/QC on drill logs and sampling protocols
  • Update and manage exploration databases
  • Contribute to 3D geological interpretation and modeling
  • Import and manage assay results
  • Support report writing for internal and public releases
  • Ensure effective shift communication and adherence to safety/environmental policies

Requirements

Candidates should possess strong exploration geology experience and software skills to support technical leadership in a remote field environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geological Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in exploration
  • Professional Geologist membership or eligibility
  • Knowledge of gold metallogeny, structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysics
  • Proficiency with Leapfrog Geo, ArcGIS, DHLogger/Fusion, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with SQL and/or Python is an asset
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • English communication skills; Arctic experience an asset
