Barrick Gold Corporation is hiring an Environmental Coordinator for a 12-month fixed term at its Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and the implementation of Hemlo's Environmental Management System. Responsibilities include oversight of environmental risk mitigation programs related to air and water quality, waste, hazardous products, reclamation, emissions, and regulatory reporting. The role provides field and data support, liaises with regulatory bodies, and ensures environmental stewardship across the Williams Mine site. Responsibilities

The Environmental Coordinator supports environmental compliance and sustainability at Hemlo. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement environmental monitoring programs (air, water, noise, biodiversity).
  • Support mine rehabilitation and closure planning activities.
  • Maintain the Hemlo Environmental Management System in line with ISO-14001 and corporate guidance.
  • Lead data collection and management for environmental programs.
  • Conduct field sampling and inspections as needed.
  • Advise contractors and staff on environmental compliance and systems.
  • Ensure site compliance with environmental regulations and permits.
  • Respond to environmental incidents and support emergency protocols.
  • Coordinate with external consultants on data collection and studies.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and permit documents.
  • Act as liaison with municipal, provincial, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support environmental operations.

Requirements
