Dewatering Operator - Ekati Diamond Mine - Fly In/Out - Two Week Rotations

Burgundy Diamond Mines is hiring an Equipment Operator, Underground Dewatering Operator for its Misery Underground (MUG) Team at the Ekati Diamond Mine in Northwest Territories, Canada. This permanent position follows a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation, including day and night shifts. Responsibilities include maintaining underground dewatering and mud extraction systems. The role offers camp accommodations and fly-in/fly-out travel from Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern locations.

Responsibilities

The Underground Dewatering Operator will be responsible for maintaining underground dewatering systems and supporting mining operations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operate and maintain underground dewatering/mud extraction systems.
  • Conduct sump inspections and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Transport contractors and skilled trade personnel underground.
  • Stock underground storage areas with necessary consumables.
  • Manage snow removal and sand application on common walkways during winter.
  • Audit secondary spill containment for compliance with water licenses.
  • Assist with surface dewatering operations as required.
  • Perform daily inspections of surface and underground areas.
  • Ensure safe operation of vehicles and equipment with knowledge of site locations.
  • Monitor waste management collection areas for compliance.
  • Perform general labor duties and maintain site cleanliness.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and Occupational Health & Safety policies.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have experience in mining or an industrial environment, with a strong focus on safety and operational efficiency. Requirements include:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in mining or industrial operations.
  • Experience in underground mining is an asset.
  • Ability to work in surface and underground environments, including confined spaces and heights.
  • Knowledge of basic mine practices and safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate small equipment such as personnel carriers, skid steers, and small front-end loaders.
  • Familiarity with SAP and basic computer literacy is an asset.
  • Experience working with electric and diesel pumps.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
