Charge Up Operator - Hemlo Gold Mine - 14 Days On / 14 Days Off

Barminco Canada, part of the global Perenti Group, is hiring experienced Development Charge-Up Operators for underground operations at the Hemlo Mine near Marathon, Ontario. This role involves the handling and detonation of explosives for development blasting and requires a strong background in blasting techniques, safety, and underground mining. Responsibilities

Charge-Up Operators are responsible for safe and efficient execution of blasting activities and support development operations underground.

  • Execute sub-drift, breast, slash, and drift blasting with ANFO and various initiating systems.
  • Operate and maintain blasting trucks and related equipment.
  • Lead development headings and mentor junior crew members.
  • Coordinate with Jumbo Operators, Ancillary personnel, and Supervisors.
  • Maintain clean work areas and ensure roadways are unobstructed.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report hazards.
  • Adapt to rotational schedules and operational priorities.
  • Work independently and accept feedback to improve performance.
  • Share knowledge and support team learning and development.

Requirements

Candidates must have certified blasting credentials and several years of underground mining experience.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years underground mining experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a charge-up role.
  • Ontario Hard Rock Mining Common Core with U0006 'Blasting' required (U0093 'Mobile Bulk Blasting' preferred).
  • Working at Heights Certificate.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and team-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
