About Ermine Power Station
Ermine Power Station, located approximately 10 km southeast of Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, is a natural gas-fired facility operated by SaskPower. The ongoing construction project involves expanding the existing power plant to include a simple-cycle gas turbine (SCGT) facility. This expansion will generate an additional 46 MW of power, providing energy to approximately 46,000 homes. The scope of work includes underground piping earthworks, concrete foundation construction, and site grading/drainage improvements.
Work Responsibilities
Labourers
- Assist with heavy lifting and general labourer duties
- Operate equipment such as smooth drum and sheepfoot packers
- Conduct slope laser operations and dewatering tasks
- Perform other general labourer duties as required
Equipment Operators
- Safely operate assigned machinery (Skid Steer, Loader, Zoom Boom)
- Communicate effectively with ground crews using hand and voice signals
- Load, transport, and unload equipment and materials
- Perform maintenance tasks as required
- Ensure equipment is operated and maintained efficiently
- Work in tight areas and near live pipe and electrical lines
Carpenters
- Build formwork for concrete grade beams and walls
- Assist with concrete pouring and general layout tasks
- Measure, mark, cut, shape, and join construction materials
- Work with various power tools
- Follow blueprints for work planning
- Adhere to site safety procedures and policies
- Set up site with Sea Cans and Trailers
Crane Operators
- Safely operate hoisting and swinging equipment
- Drive and set up cranes for lifts
- Communicate effectively with ground crews
- Load, transport, and unload equipment and materials
- Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment
- Operate rough terrain cranes
- Work near live pipe and electrical lines
General Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the respective field
- Valid driver’s license and 5-year driver’s abstract
- Relevant certifications for each position
- Knowledge of safety procedures (CSTS/SCOT, WHMIS, Fall Protection, AWP, Confined Space)
- Ability to work day and night shifts as required
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
