SaskPower is set to enhance the Yellowhead Power Station near North Battleford by incorporating a fourth natural gas turbine, which will boost the station's capacity by an additional 46 megawatts. This expansion, expected to be complete by late 2025, is part of a broader strategy to increase electricity generation and transition to more sustainable energy solutions. The initiative is designed to provide reliable, cost-effective power while complementing renewable energy sources like wind and solar.
Although the construction work will not significantly affect local residents, it will be quite visible at times. Key activities will include site preparation and grading, erecting a new building, and the transportation of construction materials and large equipment, such as the gas turbine, along local roads.
As a labourer for the SaskPower Yellowhead expansion project, you will perform various general labour duties, including:
- Concrete work and experience
- Jackhammering and bush hammering
- Assisting with concrete pours and backfilling
- Dewatering and running compaction equipment
- Identifying and reporting hazardous or unsafe areas
- Identifying necessary tools and understanding hand signals
- General housekeeping tasks
Requirements for the SaskPower Yellowhead labourers include,
- CSTS-2020 / SCOT certification
- WHMIS 2015 training
- Valid driver's license and driver's abstract
- Spotter experience
- Metatarsal boots
- Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test
