Supports natural gas transportation and LNG development in British Columbia.
The Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project, also known as the Eagle Mountain Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project, is an initiative by FortisBC to expand its existing natural gas transmission system in British Columbia. The project involves adding approximately 50 kilometers of new 24-inch pipeline between Coquitlam and the proposed Woodfibre LNG site near Squamish. A significant portion of the pipeline will be installed in a tunnel beneath the Skwelwilem Squamish Estuary to minimize environmental impact. This expansion aims to increase FortisBCs capacity to transport natural gas to the Woodfibre LNG Facility, supporting the rising demand for liquefied natural gas as a more environmentally friendly fuel option for marine shipping and international use.
