Supporting hydroelectric power generation and energy supply in British Columbia.

The W.A.C. Bennett Dam, located on the Peace River in northeastern British Columbia, is one of the world's largest earth-fill dams. Constructed between 1963 and 1967, the dam stands 183 meters high and stretches 2,068 meters along its crest. It impounds the Williston Reservoir, which has a surface area of 1,773 square kilometers, making it the largest reservoir in British Columbia. The dam's construction was a monumental engineering feat of its time, significantly contributing to British Columbia's hydroelectric capacity. The associated G.M. Shrum Generating Station, located at the dam's base, has a generating capacity of 2,790,000 kilowatts, supplying a substantial portion of the province's electricity needs.
