Spruce Creek, situated near Atlin in British Columbia, is renowned for its rich placer gold deposits. Since the late 19th century, the area has been a focal point for gold mining activities, yielding significant quantities of gold through both surface and underground mining methods. Notably, Spruce Creek holds the provincial record for the largest gold nugget, weighing 2.6 kilograms (85 ounces), discovered in the early 1900s. In recent years, companies like Brixton Metals have acquired extensive mineral claims in the Atlin Goldfields, including areas around Spruce Creek, aiming to explore and develop the hard rock sources of the placer gold.
