NorthwesTel operations and maintenance ensuring reliable telecommunications and connectivity across Northern Canada.

Ensuring reliable telecommunications infrastructure across Northern Canada with cutting-edge technology and maintenance services.

The NorthwesTel Project is a major telecommunications initiative aimed at expanding high-speed internet access across Northern Canada, particularly in the Yukon and Northwest Territories. It focuses on growing fiber-optic networks, integrating low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite services, and completing the Canada North Fibre Loop, a 3,857-kilometer network that enhances connectivity and ensures redundancy in remote areas. With over 95% of households now able to access reliable broadband, the project helps bridge the digital divide, support economic growth, and improve essential services. A key milestone is the planned acquisition of NorthwesTel by Sixty North Unity, a consortium of Indigenous organizations, making it the world's largest Indigenous-owned telecom provider. This transition is a major step toward economic reconciliation while ensuring modern telecommunications infrastructure remains accessible and sustainable for Northern communities.
