In March 2024, Alamos Gold Inc. announced a deal to acquire Argonaut Gold, the previous owner of the Magino Mine. This strategic acquisition aims to integrate Magino with Alamos's nearby Island Gold Mine, creating one of Canada's largest and most profitable gold mining complexes. The combined operations are expected to produce approximately 280,000 ounces of gold annually, with projections to increase to over 400,000 ounces by 2026.
