Madsen Mine project revitalization in the Red Lake gold district, enhancing mining operations and resource extraction.

Revitalizing a historic gold mine in Red Lake, Ontario, with modern mining techniques and strategic development.

The Madsen Mine is a historic underground gold mine located about 10 kilometers southwest of Red Lake, Ontario. First established in 1938, the mine has had multiple periods of activity and has produced over 2 million ounces of gold throughout its history. In 2023, West Red Lake Gold Mines acquired the mine and its 47-square-kilometer property, with plans to restart production and revitalize the site. The company is actively preparing for a production mining and milling ramp-up in the second quarter of 2025. Key developments include completing a pre-feasibility study and advancing site readiness activities such as the installation of a 114-person camp and the commissioning of a primary crusher. These efforts are part of a larger strategy to reestablish the Madsen Mine as a significant contributor to the Red Lake gold district.
