The Hinton Pulp Mill, situated in Hinton, Alberta, has been a significant producer of unbleached kraft pulp since its establishment in 1957. In February 2024, Mondi Group, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, completed the acquisition of the mill from West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. Mondi plans to enhance the facility, including the installation of a new 200,000-tonne-per-annum kraft paper machine, aiming to strengthen its presence in the North American market.
