Oil sands mining project in Alberta focused on bitumen extraction and upgrading.

The BlackGold Oil Sands Project, located near Conklin, Alberta, is an in situ oil sands development operated by Harvest Operations Corp., a subsidiary of Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC). Utilizing Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) technology, the project currently produces 10,000 barrels of bitumen per day, with plans to expand to 30,000 barrels per day in a second phase. Since achieving its design capacity in 2019, the project has contributed to Alberta's economy through job creation and local business support while employing environmentally responsible methods to minimize surface land disturbance. The BlackGold project underscores the province's commitment to advancing oil sands production efficiently and sustainably.
