The Underground Mine Trainer is responsible for delivering comprehensive training on underground mining equipment and safety in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
- Deliver Underground Common Core and specialty modules training on haulage trucks, LHDs, bolters, jumbo drills, utility vehicles, and auxiliary equipment.
- Ensure trainees adhere to best practices, safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
- Solicit feedback and provide remedial training as needed.
- Conduct one-on-one, small group, and large group training sessions.
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation.
- Develop lesson plans, SOPs, JHAs, inductions, training materials, and training plans.
- Support mining activities and departmental goals.
- Contribute to cross-training strategies and mentor experienced employees.
- Assist with the Learning Management System (VISTA) implementation and ongoing use.
- Collaborate with Safety and other departments to develop training procedures mine-wide.
- Promote continuous and process improvements related to training.
Requirements
Applicants must have significant underground operations experience and training expertise along with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Minimum 3-5 years of underground mining experience.
- At least 1 year experience in a training capacity.
- Strong training, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to write lesson plans.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Train-the-Trainer (TTT) certification.
- Accredited in Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core program #770010.
- Accredited in various Underground MTCU Specialty Modules.
- Standard First Aid certification.
- Fall Arrest and Aerial Platform certifications.
- WHMIS and MOL Step 4 certifications.
- Experience with VISTA LMS.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Smart Sheet.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and handle confidential information.
