New Gold is hiring a Water Treatment Plant Labourer for a 6-month term at the Rainy River Mine, located 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario. This open-pit gold and silver mining site offers camp accommodations and operates on a 7/7 work rotation. The position supports the Water Treatment Plant Operator in ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. No prior experience is necessary, as on-the-job training will be provided. Preference is given to local applicants from the Rainy River district.

Responsibilities

The Water Treatment Plant Labourer will assist the Water Treatment Plant Operator in site services operations.

  • Operate various Site Services mobile equipment and hand tools.
  • Fuel pumps, heaters, light plants, and generators.
  • Track fuel usage and equipment operating hours.
  • Assist with collecting water samples and performing water quality tests.
  • Monitor sump and pond levels and report issues.
  • Maintain housekeeping of work areas and equipment.
  • Perform minor maintenance in related work areas.
  • Escort reagent deliveries and supervise off-loading.
  • Assist other trades within the Site Services Department.

Requirements

This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training provided.

  • Valid Class G Driver's License.
  • Previous equipment operation experience is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
