Steam Cleaner - Oil Sands Maintenance - Camp Work - 14x7 Rotations
ML Northern is hiring Steamers for various remote mining sites, including Suncor, Syncrude, and Kearl in Fort McMurray, AB. This role follows a 14-day on, 7-day off schedule with 12-hour shifts. Camp accommodations and flights may be provided depending on the site. The position is physically demanding and involves steaming mining equipment and assisting with maintenance tasks. Overtime is paid after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week. Successful candidates will join the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955.

Responsibilities
The Steamer will be responsible for cleaning mining and support equipment and assisting maintenance teams.
- Steam mining and support equipment
- Perform general yard clean-up and assist mechanics
- Complete daily tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor
- Work in physically demanding and adverse conditions
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures
- Use proper safety equipment, including PPE
- Conduct equipment walk-arounds, safety checks, and risk assessments
- Report equipment repairs or safety concerns to the maintenance team
- Report all incidents, near misses, or damage immediately
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in steaming, mechanical work, and safety procedures.
- Valid Class 3 Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement (preferred) or Class 5 License
- Must obtain Class 3 License with Air Brake Endorsement within 3 months
- Ability to operate a standard vehicle
- Experience with forklifts, bobcats, and loaders is an asset
- Aerial Work Platform (AWP) and Fall Arrest Certification are beneficial
- Access to Suncor, Syncrude, Syncrude Aurora, and Kearl sites
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education (preferred)
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written)
- Valid CSO Certification
