Newmont is hiring a Bus Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator for Brucejack Camp at the Brucejack Gold Mine in northern British Columbia, a remote fly-in/fly-out underground mining operation located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. This temporary 6-month mine-site role supports site operations by safely transporting crews, equipment, freight, and materials, while also operating heavy and off-highway equipment as required in rugged terrain and changing weather conditions. The position offers $56.04/hour, along with camp accommodations, onsite meals, and fly-in/fly-out transportation support across Western Canada.

Responsibilities

The Bus Driver and Heavy Equipment Operator supports Brucejack site logistics by transporting personnel, freight, and materials safely while operating heavy and off-highway equipment in a remote mining environment.

  • Safely operate crew transportation vehicles, including 40-passenger off-highway buses.
  • Operate various heavy equipment and off-highway equipment as required for site operations.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance checks on assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Complete required logbook documentation accurately and on time.
  • Secure and transport equipment, freight, and materials in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Navigate rugged terrain and severe weather conditions while maintaining safe and reliable operation.
  • Uphold Newmont’s safety culture and follow site procedures at all times.

Requirements

Candidates for this remote mining transport and equipment role should have strong hauling experience, a valid commercial licence, and the ability to work safely in a rugged, safety-sensitive mine environment.

  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hauling experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with heavy equipment and off-highway equipment (considered an asset).
  • Knowledge of logbook regulations, hazardous goods handling, and safe work procedures.
  • Experience with highway driving and/or bus driving.
  • Ability to adapt, troubleshoot basic mechanical issues, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment with strong teamwork and procedural compliance.
  • Ability to work extended hours and shift work as required.
