NACG is hiring Heavy Equipment Operators for hydraulic shovels at the Syncrude Aurora site in Fort McMurray. This role involves operating shovels ranging from EX2500 to EX8000 in a mining environment. The schedule follows a 14x7 rotation, alternating between days and nights, with transportation provided via bus from Fort McMurray. Overtime is available after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week.

Responsibilities
The Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for operating hydraulic shovels in a mining or heavy construction environment.
- Operate hydraulic shovels ranging from EX2500 to EX8000 (Hitachi, Caterpillar, etc.)
- Complete pre-use equipment inspections
- Conduct field-level risk assessments before and during tasks
- Participate in safe fueling and servicing of equipment
- Interact with cleanup and hauling equipment
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, standards, and procedures
- Use all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Review and follow safe work plans and hazard assessments
- Report equipment issues to maintenance or supervisors
Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating a 5500 or equivalent-size hydraulic shovel
- At least 1 year of experience in a mining or overburden removal environment
- Familiarity with production environments
- Strong safety awareness
- Good communication and listening skills
- High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary education (preferred)
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- CSO or BSO Certification
- Ability to pass pre-employment testing, including drug and alcohol screening
