Newmont is hiring for a Pit Utility position at its Red Chris Mine in Northern British Columbia, located on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation near Dease Lake. This fly-in, fly-out opportunity offers a two-weeks-in, two-weeks-out rotation. The Red Chris site provides full camp accommodations, including meals, fitness facilities, and recreational amenities. Flights and travel allowances are provided from various locations across British Columbia and Alberta. The role is essential to open pit operations, supporting dewatering, equipment operation, and pit maintenance activities.

Responsibilities
The Pit Utility position supports essential open pit activities at the Red Chris Mine, including dewatering, equipment operation, and maintenance tasks.
- Comply with company safety standards and the BC Health, Safety, Reclamation Code for Mines.
- Balance workload and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve safe production outcomes.
- Execute shovel moves and support drill and blast activities.
- Operate equipment such as loaders, excavators, water trucks, and rock trucks.
- Conduct equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
- Assist with daily mining operations, equipment checks, and pit area upkeep.
Requirements
Candidates should possess a strong background in open pit mining operations and heavy equipment operation.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an open pit mining environment.
- At least 1 year in a Pit Utility or similar role.
- Minimum 1 year of dewatering and/or pumping experience.
- 2000+ hours operating wheel loaders.
- 2000+ hours operating excavators (Hitachi 470/870).
- Experience with backhoes, dozers, telehandlers, and articulating dump trucks is an asset.
- Familiarity with shovel cable manipulator attachments.
