Mountain Safety Technician - Brucejack Mine - 13 Days On / 13 Days Off - FIFO
Newmont is currently hiring a Mountain Safety Technician 1 for a fixed-term contract at its Brucejack Gold Mine in northern British Columbia, located 65 km north of Stewart. This fly-in/fly-out role includes comfortable private camp accommodations, prepared meals, and extensive recreational amenities. Working a 13/13 rotational schedule with two travel days, the technician will operate in alpine environments to manage avalanche risks and maintain road safety across mountainous terrain during a critical operational period ending in October 2025.

Responsibilities
As a Mountain Safety Technician 1, you'll lead avalanche forecasting and control measures to ensure road and worker safety in remote alpine conditions.
- Lead avalanche forecasting, control operations, and terrain assessments.
- Mentor team members in mountain safety protocols.
- Collect and analyze snow and avalanche data.
- Maintain avalanche signage and safety equipment.
- Conduct patrols and site assessments for hazard mitigation.
- Support ERT training and emergency response readiness.
Requirements
Applicants must bring advanced technical skills and certifications in mountain safety operations.
- CAA Operations Level 2 Certification (required).
- 10+ years as an avalanche technician.
- OFA Level 3 or equivalent 80-hour first aid certification.
- WSBC and BC Ministry of Mines Avalanche Blasting Tickets.
- Valid driver's license and strong skiing ability.
- Minimum ICS 100 certification.
- ACMG certification and rope rescue experience preferred.
