Newmont is hiring a Miner 2 to join underground operations at its Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade site located 65 km north of Stewart in northern British Columbia. This fly-in/fly-out role includes full remote camp accommodations with private rooms, balanced meals, fitness and recreation facilities, and an inclusive work culture. Operating on a 13/13 rotational schedule with day and night shifts, the Miner 2 position involves equipment operation, ground support, infrastructure maintenance, and safety-focused task execution in a physically demanding underground environment.

Responsibilities

As a Miner 2, you will execute underground mining activities safely and efficiently, supporting equipment operation and mine development.

  • Operate underground mobile equipment and surface support systems (e.g., rock breakers, conveyors)
  • Perform scaling, ground support, and infrastructure maintenance
  • Complete equipment inspections and basic maintenance tasks
  • Follow safety procedures and report hazards
  • Install and maintain ventilation, air, water, and sump systems
  • Document shift activities and communicate with supervisors

Requirements

Candidates must have underground experience and physical endurance for remote shift work in extreme environments.

  • 2-4 years underground mining experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Heavy equipment operation or trades/construction experience preferred
  • Knowledge of underground safety practices
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Strong communication, time management, and teamwork skills
