Maintenance Yardperson - Syncrude Aurora - Drive In/Out - Two Week Rotations

NACG is hiring an Intermediate Maintenance Yardperson for its Syncrude Aurora mining project in Fort McMurray. The role involves general maintenance, cleanup, assisting technicians, and ensuring work areas remain organized and safe. This position operates on a 14x14 rotation with both day and night shifts. Camp accommodations are not provided, but bussing is available from Fort McMurray to the worksite. Overtime is paid after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week.

Responsibilities

The Intermediate Maintenance Yardperson will support site maintenance and organizational duties.

  • Perform general maintenance, cleanup, and organizational tasks
  • Maintain roadways by clearing snow, addressing potholes, and applying water as needed
  • Assist technicians with job setup and tear-down
  • Support assembly and testing tasks under supervision
  • Gather and deliver parts and components to assist with job completion
  • Ensure proper waste segregation and controlled product storage
  • Operate skid-steer, zoom boom, and forklift as required

Requirements

Qualified candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a heavy equipment maintenance environment
  • Experience operating skid-steer, zoom boom, or forklift
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Previous light-duty vehicle experience on Oil Sands sites
  • WHMIS, TDG, and Waste Segregation training are assets
  • Class 3 with air brake endorsement is an asset
  • Valid CSO or BSO certification

Syncrude Aurora

The Syncrude Aurora Mine, located approximately 35 kilometers north of Fort McMurray, Alberta, is a significant component of Syncrude Canada's oil sands operations. The Aurora North Mine was the first stand-alone oil sands mine and processing plant, producing bitumen froth that is transported to the Mildred Lake processing plant. The mine has a bitumen production capacity of 225,000 bpd and is expected to be depleted by about 2040 at current mining rates. Syncrude is a joint venture operated by Suncor Energy, with partners including Imperial Oil, Sinopec, and Nexen/CNOOC.
