Maintenance Technician - Back River Gold District - Fly In/Out - Three Week Rotations

Kitikmeot Camp Solutions is hiring a Maintenance Technician for a remote camp facility in Nunavut. This role focuses on maintaining and repairing kitchen appliances, electrical systems, and related equipment. Working in a fast-paced remote environment, the position requires a strong electrical background, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently. The job follows a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off schedule, with flights from Edmonton and full camp accommodations provided, including meals, private rooms, and access to amenities.

Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of all kitchen appliances and electrical systems within the remote camp.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on kitchen appliances, including ovens, fridges, dishwashers, and deep fryers.
  • Conduct inspections and safety checks to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues in kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new kitchen appliances.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with safety policies.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls for electrical failures or appliance breakdowns.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Collaborate with camp management and other maintenance staff to address equipment concerns.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have electrical expertise, hands-on experience with kitchen appliances, and the ability to work in a remote camp setting.

  • Journeyman Electrician Certification or equivalent trade qualification (preferred).
  • First Aid with CPR certification (asset).
  • Experience working in remote or fly-in/fly-out camps.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with commercial kitchen appliances and refrigeration units.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools to identify faults in electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Flexibility to work in extreme weather conditions and remote environments.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
