Maintenance Manager - Remote Camps Nunavut - FIFO - 3 Week Rotations

MATRIX is hiring a Camp Maintenance Manager for a fully remote fly-in/fly-out mining camp located in Bathurst Inlet, Nunavut. Operating on a 3 week on, 3 week off rotation, this role offers a daily rate of $400-$475 depending on experience and skills. The Maintenance Manager will oversee daily upkeep, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance of camp facilities, while supervising a maintenance laborer. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in remote camp maintenance, First Aid certification, and strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

The Camp Maintenance Manager will ensure the upkeep and safe operation of all camp infrastructure while leading maintenance personnel.

  • Perform and coordinate minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural systems
  • Oversee and guide a maintenance laborer in daily tasks
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Respond promptly to repair requests from residents
  • Support skilled trades and coordinate access/logistics for major repairs
  • Ensure functionality of fire safety and security systems
  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and readiness of all camp areas
  • Communicate with guests regarding maintenance disruptions
  • Perform small appliance installations and general handyman work
  • Document and execute PM tasks daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly

Requirements

Qualified candidates will be physically capable, self-sufficient, and bring strong technical and leadership experience to remote camp operations.

  • Level 1 First Aid (or 2-day equivalent) required
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Facility maintenance certification highly desired
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and communication skills
  • Experience in remote camps and trades environments preferred
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and perform physical labor
  • Experience with satellite phones and basic handyman work
