The Maintenance Helper supports the mine maintenance team by assisting with mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and maintaining a clean, organized work environment. Key duties include:
- Maintaining instruments, tools, and work areas appropriately
- Assisting with mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on mining equipment
- Supporting technicians with shop requirements
- Washing equipment
- Ensuring the maintenance shop is clean at all times
Requirements
The ideal candidate for the Maintenance Helper position has mining or industrial experience and the ability to work safely and effectively in a maintenance environment. Required skills and qualifications include:
- 1+ years of experience in a mining or industrial setting
- Prior experience with heavy machinery
- Strong commitment to safety
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions safely and accurately
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to adapt and work inclusively
- Willingness to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs)
- Valid driver's license
- Ontario Surface Common Core training is an asset
