Newmont is hiring a Light Equipment Operator for the Brucejack Gold Mine in northern British Columbia, a remote fly-in/fly-out underground mining operation located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. This 13 days on / 13 days off rotational role supports the Surface Operations team by operating light equipment used to maintain daily site operations, including skid steers, crew trucks, small excavators, wheel loaders, and rock trucks. The position offers $43.25/hour, along with camp accommodations, onsite meals, and travel allowance and transportation arrangements.

Responsibilities
The Light Equipment Operator supports Brucejack Mine surface operations by safely operating light mobile equipment, completing inspections, and assisting with site services in all weather conditions.
- Promote and model a strong safety-first mindset and participate in safety meetings.
- Operate light equipment including skid steers, crew trucks, small excavators, wheel loaders, and rock trucks.
- Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Field-Level Risk Hazard Assessments (FLRHAs).
- Perform pre- and post-operational inspections and routine equipment maintenance.
- Support fueling, waste disposal, recycling, and snow clearing activities.
- Set up and operate water pumps and assist with spill response when required.
- Maintain walkways and building access during snow and adverse weather events.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Requirements
Candidates for this fly-in/fly-out Light Equipment Operator role should have equipment operating experience, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work in a remote camp mining environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
- 2 to 3 years of experience operating light equipment.
- Physically fit and able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working 12-hour shifts in all weather conditions.
- WHMIS certification required.
- First Aid and Mine Rescue are considered assets.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, SOPs, and safe work practices in a dynamic environment.
