General Labourer - Jansen Discovery Lodge - 14/7 Camp

Wicehtowak Frontec Services is hiring a General Labourer for the Jansen Discovery Lodge near Jansen, Saskatchewan. Located approximately 155 kilometres east of Saskatoon, the workforce accommodation facility supports personnel working at the nearby BHP Jansen potash mine. This full-time camp maintenance position follows a 14-days-on, 7-days-off rotation and focuses on the year-round upkeep of the lodge grounds, building exteriors, sidewalks, parking areas, and outdoor facilities. Duties include snow and ice removal, landscaping, refuse collection, exterior cleaning, grounds maintenance, and the operation of equipment such as skid steers, front-end loaders, sand trucks, and aerial work platforms. Camp accommodations and meals are provided during each work rotation.

Responsibilities

The General Labourer supports the year-round upkeep of Jansen Discovery Lodge by maintaining the exterior property, grounds, equipment, and outdoor work areas. The role requires safe equipment operation, seasonal maintenance, exterior cleaning, and reliable completion of general camp maintenance duties.

  • Maintain the external property during all seasons.
  • Complete snow and ice removal from sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and other assigned locations.
  • Mow lawns, rake grounds, remove weeds, prune shrubs and trees, and water landscaped areas.
  • Clean sidewalks, parking lots, and other exterior surfaces.
  • Safely operate hand-held tools and grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Operate equipment such as skid steers, Bobcats, front-end loaders, sand trucks, and aerial work platforms.
  • Collect and dispose of refuse, debris, leaves, and other waste materials.
  • Clean exterior windows throughout the workforce accommodation site.
  • Clean eaves on all buildings located at the lodge.
  • Maintain building exteriors and ensure they remain free of debris, leaves, and other materials.
  • Organize and maintain supplies including fuel, oil, soil, fertilizers, and weed control products.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures while operating tools, vehicles, and mobile equipment.
  • Perform additional general labour, groundskeeping, and camp maintenance duties as assigned.

Requirements

The General Labourer must be able to complete physically active outdoor maintenance work in changing Saskatchewan weather conditions. The position requires a valid skid steer ticket, the ability to work independently, and availability for rotating shifts that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

  • Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, or property maintenance experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience operating and maintaining groundskeeping or landscaping equipment is considered an asset.
  • Valid skid steer ticket required.
  • Previous pesticide application experience is considered an asset.
  • Valid Saskatchewan pesticide certification for spraying and applying pesticides is considered an asset.
  • Willingness to complete training to obtain pesticide certification when required.
  • Confined space training or certification preferred.
  • Fall arrest or fall protection training preferred.
  • Aerial work platform certification preferred.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
  • Ability to successfully complete a security clearance check.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment alcohol and drug test.
  • Ability to successfully complete a criminal record check.
