Newmont is seeking a Journeyperson Instrument Mechanic for its Red Chris Mine, a fly-in/fly-out copper and gold operation near Dease Lake, BC, within the Tahltan Nation territory. This full-time, onsite position supports the safe and reliable operation of process control instrumentation and automation systems, with a competitive hourly wage of CA$55.14. Responsibilities

Support process control systems by maintaining, calibrating, and improving instrumentation across the Red Chris Mine site.

  • Install, calibrate, and maintain control and measurement instruments
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system faults
  • Modify and configure control devices and perform diagnostics using multimeters, simulators, and software
  • Run control system cables and install air piping/tubing
  • Support Emerson DeltaV and PLC-based systems
  • Maintain system documentation, calibration records, and drawings
  • Assist with project planning, performance evaluations, and minor improvements
  • Coach apprentices and ensure instrumentation best practices are followed

Requirements

Candidates should bring strong instrumentation experience in mining or industrial settings, and familiarity with DeltaV or PLC systems.

  • Red Seal Instrumentation ticket or related applied sciences degree
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in mining or heavy industrial environments
  • Knowledge of Emerson DeltaV DCS, PLCs, and industrial networks
  • Experience with instrument selection, calibration, and maintenance
  • Proficiency with flow, pressure, temperature, and analytical sensors
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, SAP, and technical documentation
  • Strong safety focus, technical problem-solving, and mentoring ability
