ATCO Frontec is hiring a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join the Site Services department in Resolute Bay, NU. This role involves repairing, overhauling, maintaining, and servicing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, graders, and excavators. The position follows a 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off rotation, with all travel expenses covered. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

Responsibilities

The Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty equipment in a remote environment.

  • Repair, overhaul, maintain, and service diesel-powered vehicles, heavy trucks, graders, dump trucks, and excavators.
  • Fabricate, construct, install, and repair equipment and machinery.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and determine necessary repairs.
  • Continuously improve operations to decrease turnaround times and streamline workflows.
  • Operate additional equipment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy-duty equipment maintenance and repair.

  • Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification required.
  • Valid Class 3 driver's license required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time efficiently.
  • Welding experience (gas and AC/DC) is an asset.
  • Experience working in a remote environment is an asset.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and pulling.
  • Prepared to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Final candidates must pass a pre-employment alcohol & drug test, fit-to-work medical test, criminal record check, and Security Clearance Check.
