Newmont is hiring a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic for its Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia near Dease Lake and Iskut, situated on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. This fly-in/fly-out role operates on a two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off schedule and includes camp accommodations, meals, and access to recreation, Wi-Fi, and counselling. The position pays $55.14/hour and supports maintenance of heavy mobile equipment including Caterpillar, Hitachi, Komatsu, and Sandvik units. SAP and safety experience are strong assets.

Responsibilities
As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you'll support safe and efficient maintenance of mobile equipment across the Red Chris open-pit mine.
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on haul trucks, dozers, graders, shovels, and drills.
- Use SAP for work orders, material tracking, and shift handoffs.
- Mentor apprentices and PM service personnel.
- Ensure safety compliance and hazard reporting.
- Support continuous improvement of maintenance operations.
- Assist with other maintenance tasks as needed.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Interprovincial Red Seal Certification - Heavy Duty Mechanic
- 2-5 years of mine equipment repair experience
- Class 5 driver's license required; Class 3 with air brakes preferred
- Knowledge of Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Sandvik, and P&H equipment
- Strong communication, organizational, and team skills
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Physical ability to work in extreme conditions and remote locations
