Janitor - Brucejack Mine - 13x13 Fly-In / Fly-Out

Newmont is hiring Janitors for its Brucejack Gold Mine in northern British Columbia’s Kitimat-Stikine region, a high-grade underground mining operation located roughly 65 km north of Stewart. This onsite, remote camp role is offered as a six-month contract with potential extension and follows a 13 days on / 13 days off rotation with 10-hour shifts. Brucejack operates as a fly-in/fly-out site with pickup points across Western Canada, with transportation arrangements and a travel allowance provided. The Janitor supports sanitation and day-to-day camp readiness by cleaning common areas, distributing supplies, assisting housekeeping during high changeover days, maintaining inventory, and following WHMIS and PPE requirements in a drug- and alcohol-free workplace with pre-employment testing. Camp living includes private accommodations and onsite meals, plus recreation and wellness amenities such as a gym, fitness and yoga classes, golf simulator, hiking groups, and a music room.

Responsibilities

The Janitor maintains clean, sanitary common areas at the Brucejack remote camp, helping ensure a safe and comfortable environment for onsite personnel.

  • Clean and sanitize common areas, including bathrooms and shared spaces, to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Receive, organize, and distribute supplies as required to support camp operations.
  • Assist housekeeping teams on high-changeover days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) to maintain room and facility readiness.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and ensure common areas remain stocked and functional.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including WHMIS procedures and PPE guidelines when handling chemicals and equipment.
  • Report equipment issues, deficiencies, and needed repairs promptly to support safe operations.
  • Support consistent housekeeping and sanitation routines aligned with remote camp standards.

Requirements

Candidates must have janitorial experience in industrial or institutional environments, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work rotational shifts in a remote mine camp.

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an institutional or industrial cleaning setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work 10-hour shifts in a remote camp environment.
  • Willingness to work a 13 days on / 13 days off rotational schedule.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical screening.
  • Ability to comply with a drug- and alcohol-free workplace (pre-employment testing required).
