Newmont is hiring Housekeepers, Lead Hand for the Brucejack Gold Mine in northern British Columbia, a remote fly-in/fly-out mining operation located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. This 13 days on / 13 days off rotational role supports camp housekeeping operations by coordinating staff, maintaining supply inventory, assisting with laundry and room turnover, and helping ensure clean, safe, and compliant accommodations for the site workforce. The position offers $32.28/hour, along with camp accommodations, onsite meals, and travel support.

Responsibilities

The Housekeeping Lead Hand supports camp operations at Brucejack by coordinating housekeeping staff, maintaining inventory, reinforcing safety procedures, and keeping accommodation areas clean, sanitary, and operationally ready.

  • Clean and sanitize bunkhouse rooms, hallways, and washrooms to maintain safe and sanitary living spaces.
  • Change linens, make beds, and uphold room cleanliness standards across camp accommodations.
  • Wash, fold, and store laundry to meet daily and weekly camp requirements.
  • Monitor and restock housekeeping, janitorial, and Commissary supplies and report shortages during the Pre-Shift Meeting.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly to support camp safety and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with stripping rooms, laundry operations, and receiving deliveries during peak or high-volume periods.
  • Support Commissary operations by training designated staff on equipment use, discount processes, and opening and closing procedures.
  • Conduct daily inspections of storage rooms to verify inventory accuracy and availability.
  • Lead or support daily pre-start meetings, reinforcing expectations, assignments, and WHMIS-aligned safety protocols.
  • Maintain an organized, efficient, and compliant housekeeping routine aligned with daily, weekly, and monthly operational standards.

Requirements

Successful candidates for this remote camp housekeeping lead role should bring practical housekeeping experience, leadership ability, and strong organizational skills suited to a fly-in/fly-out mining camp environment.

  • Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel, restaurant, remote camp, or similar setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate staff workloads and provide clear direction in a lead hand capacity.
  • Comfortable training staff and supporting cross-functional duties such as Commissary operations.
  • Experience using basic computer systems for scheduling, reporting, or inventory entry.
  • Familiarity with WHMIS guidelines, safety practices, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to work onsite in a remote camp setting on a rotational schedule.
  • Ability to work in a drug and alcohol-free workplace and complete pre-employment testing.
