Heavy Equipment Technician - Oil Sands Construction Maintenance - FIFO 7x7 Rotation

FLINT is hiring experienced Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians for a permanent position based in Fort McMurray, Alberta, starting August 2025. This role supports maintenance of large mining equipment and offers a consistent 7/7 rotation, with full camp accommodations and flights provided from Calgary or Edmonton. Candidates must have Off-Road Journeyperson Certification and at least one year of experience servicing Caterpillar, Liebherr, Komatsu, or Hitachi equipment in oil sands or open pit mining environments. Benefits begin after 300 hours worked, and a referral bonus is available.

Responsibilities

Join FLINT's maintenance team to support critical mining operations by maintaining and repairing heavy off-road equipment in Fort McMurray.

  • Diagnose, service, and repair heavy-duty equipment including Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, and Liebherr machines
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs
  • Inspect equipment systems and components for safe and reliable operation
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and repairs
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure equipment availability
  • Work safely in compliance with Energy Safety Canada standards

Requirements

Applicants must be certified Heavy Equipment Technicians with relevant mining equipment experience.

  • Valid Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician - Off Road Certification
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in heavy equipment repair and diagnostics
  • Experience with Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, or Liebherr mining equipment
  • Previous oil sands or large open-pit site experience
  • Valid CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • Physically fit for remote and demanding work conditions
  • Valid driver's license with a clean 3-year abstract
  • Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
