Heavy Equipment Technician - Greenstone Gold Mines - Ontario

Greenstone Gold Mines LP, owned by Equinox Gold Corp, is hiring a Heavy Equipment Technician for the Greenstone Mine in Geraldton, Ontario. This open-pit gold mine, operational since May 2024, is projected to produce nearly 400,000 ounces of gold annually for an initial 14-year mine life. The Heavy Equipment Technician will be responsible for repairs, overhauls, and new builds of mining-related equipment, diagnosing faults, and ensuring optimal performance. This position requires expertise in heavy equipment maintenance and offers a rotational work schedule. Company transportation is available from multiple pick-up locations.

Responsibilities

The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and overhauling mining equipment at the Greenstone Mine. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on 793F CAT Haul Trucks.
  • Diagnosing faults and malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment.
  • Making recommendations for repairs and potential improvements.
  • Interpreting work orders and technical manuals.
  • Completing job-specific reports and paperwork.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.

Requirements

Candidates should meet the following qualifications and skills:

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate.
  • Experience with Komatsu or CAT is considered an asset.
  • Experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Prior experience in an industrial setting; mine site experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a remote location environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a challenging environment with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to adapt to an inclusive work environment and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Comfortable working at heights and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
