Responsibilities

The Heavy Equipment Operator will perform precise grading and excavation tasks critical to the tailings area at Fort McMurray, supporting safe and efficient mine operations.

  • Operate dozers and excavators with skill and precision.
  • Carry out groundwork within the tailings mine area.
  • Maintain safety standards in a safety-sensitive environment.
  • Support the construction and maintenance of mining infrastructure.
  • Adhere to company and regulatory safety and operational procedures.

Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience and meet safety criteria to qualify for this role.

  • Minimum 2000 hours operating a D8+ dozer.
  • Minimum 6000 hours operating a 250+ excavator.
  • Open pit mining experience is an asset.
  • Mandatory safety tickets including CSO from Energy Safety Canada.
  • Physically capable of demanding tasks in diverse conditions.
  • Clean drivers abstract with under 9 demerits for [number] years.
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing due to safety-sensitive designation.
