FLINT is hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Operators for a permanent position at the Kearl site near Fort McMurray, Alberta, starting in July or August 2025. This multi-skilled role involves operating large-scale mining equipment, including 250+ class excavators and D8+ dozers or 785+ haul trucks, within open-pit mining operations. Operators will benefit from a 14/14 FIFO schedule, flights from Calgary or Edmonton, full camp accommodations, and benefits eligibility after 300 hours worked. As part of a collaborative team in Canada's energy heartland, operators will contribute to safe and efficient mine services operations.

Responsibilities

Join FLINT's Kearl site team as a multi-skilled operator, supporting open-pit mining and mine services with precision and safety.

  • Operate 250+ class excavators for digging, loading, and material handling
  • Operate D8+ dozers or 785+ haul trucks depending on project demands
  • Perform pre-operation equipment checks and report mechanical issues
  • Maintain compliance with mine safety protocols and Energy Safety Canada standards
  • Assist with mine services operations, including road maintenance and dewatering support
  • Participate in site safety briefings and equipment training programs

Requirements

Candidates must bring extensive hands-on experience operating heavy mining equipment in challenging environments.

  • 6000+ hours operating 250+ class excavators
  • 2000+ hours on D8+ dozer or 785+ haul truck
  • 2000+ hours of open-pit mining experience in Mine Services
  • Valid CSO or BSO certification
  • Physically fit to perform demanding tasks in all conditions
  • Willingness to train on new equipment
  • Clean 3-year driver's abstract with fewer than 9 demerits
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written)
