Parsons is hiring a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for the Faro Mine Complex to support critical infrastructure operations through detailed, safety-driven maintenance and repair of heavy equipment. The role focuses on pre-planning and scheduling daily maintenance, completing diagnostics, preventative maintenance, safety checks, and hydraulic system repairs, while keeping accurate maintenance records and ensuring equipment is properly secured during service activities. Local candidates are preferred, with opportunities for fly-in/fly-out rotational work depending on availability. This position requires a certified journeyperson mechanic with Provincial or Red Seal credentials and at least 5 years of experience, strong troubleshooting capability, and the ability to interpret manufacturer manuals, engineering drawings, and electrical schematics. Candidates must be comfortable working in remote and adverse conditions, including being away from home for up to 21 days, and must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract.

The Water Treatment Operator I supports Faro Mine Complex water infrastructure by operating and monitoring treatment facilities, maintaining pumping systems, completing inspections and records, and following site safety and chemical handling procedures.
- Operate and monitor water treatment facilities and perform routine pump checks.
- Maintain, manage, and troubleshoot equipment including pumps and piping systems.
- Work near large diesel-powered pumps and generators while maintaining safe work practices.
- Work scheduled 12-hour day and night shifts in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Complete timely and accurate daily records of plant operations and pumping performance.
- Conduct daily site inspections and document observations.
- Notify the supervisor of water treatment, pump, and pipeline issues with clear descriptions of abnormal conditions.
- Maintain a consistently high standard of housekeeping in plant and work areas.
- Perform general labour tasks required to support water treatment processes and operational success.
- Assist site trades and services personnel as required.
- Attend training sessions as required, including site policy and company requirement training.
- Complete and follow all required Health & Safety training and on-site procedures.
- Complete chemical handling training and follow safe handling requirements on the job.
- Participate in mine rescue training as required.
- Participate in first aid training as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Candidates should be safety-focused and mechanically capable, with the ability to operate in remote northern conditions while supporting water treatment plant operations and chemical handling.
- Previous water treatment, process, or industrial experience (preferred).
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (required).
- Off-pavement and winter driving experience (preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to describe problems accurately and in detail.
- Mechanical aptitude (asset).
- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in variable conditions.
- Willingness to work in a remote northern community and on a rotational schedule.
- Ability to work in a team environment and manage time effectively.
- Physically fit and able to lift, pull, stand, or crouch for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg.
- Capable of safely handling lime and other chemicals.
- Computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Proven understanding of safe work practices and risk mitigation.
- Ability to work with little supervision in a multi-discipline environment.

- Hourly wage of $30.29/hr.
- 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation with 12-hour day and night shifts.
