NACG is hiring an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off-Road) for the Suncor Top Shop project in Fort McMurray, AB. This position offers a competitive wage, transportation from Fort McMurray, and significant overtime opportunities. Mechanics will work on large-scale CAT, Komatsu, and Hitachi equipment, performing repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance. The role does not include camp accommodations but offers a $15/hour Living Out Allowance.

Responsibilities
The Heavy Duty Mechanic will be responsible for equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Complete repairs on CAT, Komatsu, and Hitachi equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and servicing
- Evaluate equipment performance and inspect for faults
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Test repaired equipment to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications
- Develop work scopes and maintenance schedules
- Order repair parts and complete reports
- Mentor apprentices and junior mechanics
- Ensure compliance with NACG codes of practice and safety procedures
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills and experience working with off-road heavy equipment.
- Minimum 2 years post-Journeyman experience on large Haul Trucks, Dozers, Graders, and Excavators
- Valid Alberta Journeyman (Journeyperson) Equipment Technician (Off-Road) Certificate or Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic/Technician (Off-Road)
- Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic computer application knowledge
- Leadership skills and commitment to continuous learning
- Experience with Cat SIS (asset)
- Previous experience in a safety-sensitive worksite (asset)
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written)
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License
