Heavy Duty Mechanic - Suncor Top Shop - With Loa - Two Week Rotations

NACG is hiring experienced Heavy Duty Mechanics (Off-Road) to work at Suncor Top Shop in Fort McMurray. The role involves servicing and repairing heavy mining equipment, including CAT, Komatsu, and Hitachi machinery. This position follows a 14x14 rotation with no camp accommodations. Bussing is provided from Fort McMurray to the site.

Responsibilities

The Heavy Duty Mechanic (Off-Road) is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment.

  • Conduct repairs on CAT, Komatsu, and Hitachi equipment of all sizes
  • Perform preventative maintenance and servicing
  • Evaluate equipment performance and inspect for faults
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper function
  • Develop work scopes and schedules for repairs
  • Order required repair parts and complete work orders
  • Train and mentor apprentices and other mechanics
  • Follow NACG codes of practice and safety procedures

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Alberta Journeyman Equipment Technician (Off-Road) Certificate or Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic
  • Minimum 2 years of experience post-Journeyperson certification
  • Experience with large Haul Trucks, Dozers, Graders, and Excavators
  • Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications
  • Experience with Cat SIS is an asset
  • Previous experience on a safety-sensitive worksite preferred
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
