Heavy Duty Mechanic - Rainy River Mine - Camp Work - Two Week Rotations
New Gold is seeking an experienced Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic to join the maintenance team at the Rainy River Mine, located 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario. This open-pit and underground gold and silver mining site provides camp accommodations and operates on a 14/14 work rotation. The mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing underground heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.

The Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic will maintain and repair heavy mining equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on underground heavy equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools.
- Repair and overhaul equipment components, including engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and braking systems.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and workplace procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Safely operate and maintain tools and diagnostic equipment.
Requirements
Applicants must have mechanical expertise and relevant certifications for underground mining operations.
- Journeyperson Red Seal Mechanic certification.
- Underground mining experience is an asset.
- Experience with SAP or similar CMMS software is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Caterpillar and Maclean equipment is an asset.
- Familiarity with Sandvik drills is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
