Heavy Duty Mechanic - Brucejack Mine - 13 Days On / 13 Days Off + 2 Travel Days - FIFO

Newmont is seeking an experienced Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its team at the Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground operation located 65 km north of Stewart in British Columbia. This fly-in/fly-out role includes full camp accommodations with private rooms, catered meals, and recreational amenities. The position operates on a 13/13 rotational schedule with 12-hour shifts. Mechanics will be responsible for diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of underground equipment such as haul trucks, drills, and scoops, directly supporting safe and efficient mine operations.

Responsibilities

As an Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic, you'll ensure underground mobile equipment is maintained to the highest safety and performance standards.

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair underground mobile equipment including drills, scoops, and haul trucks
  • Utilize manual and computerized tools for maintenance and fault detection
  • Perform underground repairs in alignment with safety procedures
  • Test and calibrate equipment for manufacturer compliance
  • Replace parts and perform daily servicing to maximize equipment uptime
  • Collaborate with other departments and complete site-specific training

Requirements

Candidates must be certified mechanics with underground experience and the physical endurance for extended remote shifts.

  • Red Seal Certification - Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic
  • Experience with diesel/gas-powered mobile equipment
  • Previous underground mining experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Sandvik, MacLean, Getman, JLG, and Diamond Drills
  • Proficient with SAP for maintenance logs
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • WHMIS and TDG certifications preferred
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform 12-hour shifts
  • Must pass medical, drug & alcohol screening, background check
