Responsibilities

The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining and advancing the safety culture at the Greenstone Mine. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in development and review of health and safety policies, rules, and procedures in line with regulations
  • Ensuring Health and Safety Management System understanding through audits and employee engagement
  • Facilitating incident investigations and risk assessments
  • Developing and promoting safety training programs
  • Supporting firefighting, mine rescue, and emergency planning activities
  • Maintaining and reporting safety statistics
  • Conducting safety inspections and audits
  • Coaching and mentoring employees on safe work practices

Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Health and Safety Coordinator position will have extensive mining safety experience and demonstrated leadership capabilities, including:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a health and safety role within the mining industry
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations for mines and processing plants
  • Experience with Health and Safety software
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to foster a positive work environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation or relevant Occupational Health and Safety degree is an asset
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
