The Health and Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining and advancing the safety culture at the Greenstone Mine. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in development and review of health and safety policies, rules, and procedures in line with regulations
- Ensuring Health and Safety Management System understanding through audits and employee engagement
- Facilitating incident investigations and risk assessments
- Developing and promoting safety training programs
- Supporting firefighting, mine rescue, and emergency planning activities
- Maintaining and reporting safety statistics
- Conducting safety inspections and audits
- Coaching and mentoring employees on safe work practices
Requirements
The ideal candidate for the Health and Safety Coordinator position will have extensive mining safety experience and demonstrated leadership capabilities, including:
- Minimum 5 years experience in a health and safety role within the mining industry
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations for mines and processing plants
- Experience with Health and Safety software
- Strong leadership skills and ability to foster a positive work environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation or relevant Occupational Health and Safety degree is an asset
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
