Health And Safety Advisor - Oil Sands Construction Maintenance

Morgan Construction and Environmental Ltd., a respected leader in heavy civil construction across Canada, is hiring a Health and Safety Advisor to join their field operations in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This full-time role is field-based with travel to multiple job sites, supporting a proactive safety culture across the company. The successful candidate will lead orientations, safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations, while promoting OH&S best practices and compliance. Responsibilities

As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will champion a culture of safety across job sites, ensuring compliance and promoting best practices.

  • Deliver field-level safety orientations for employees and subcontractors.
  • Lead and participate in impactful safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and hazard assessments.
  • Coach workers and supervisors on safe work practices.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, ensuring follow-up and communication.
  • Identify trends and suggest improvements to safety programs.
  • Travel between project locations and serve as a key on-site safety resource.
  • Promote teamwork and proactive safety engagement across crews.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for the Health and Safety Advisor role:

  • Minimum 5 years of safety advisory experience in civil construction or heavy equipment environments.
  • NCSO or OH&S designation required; CSO/CSTS, Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive, and First Aid required.
  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead independently.
  • Clean driving record and willingness to travel within Canada.
  • Physically able to work outdoors, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand/walk for extended periods.
