New Gold is hiring a Haulage Miner on a 6-month temporary contract at Rainy River Mine in Emo, Ontario. This residential gold and silver producing site operates a 7/7 rotation with alternating day and night 12-hour shifts. No prior experience is required as on-the-job training is provided. The Haulage Miner operates heavy equipment to support surface mining operations, with an emphasis on safety and efficiency. Preference is given to local residents. The Haulage Miner operates mining equipment to support surface mining activities safely and efficiently.
- Operate haul trucks and other mining equipment per New Gold's policies and SOPs.
- Perform pre-operational checks, cleaning, lubrication, and refueling of equipment.
- Transport overburden, waste, and ore from the mine.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and equipment operators.
- Maintain equipment logs and report maintenance needs to dispatch.
- Support safe, efficient, and productive surface mining operations.
Requirements
Applicants should have mechanical aptitude, safety awareness, and physical fitness. Experience is an asset but not required.
- 1 year of machinery operation experience is an asset but not necessary.
- Heavy Equipment Operator Training is desirable.
- Ontario Common Core Training is an asset.
- Ability to understand and follow safety operating practices.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and signage.
- Ability to think and act decisively.
- Physically fit and able to work at heights and sit for long periods.
