General Labourer - Resolute Bay Arctic Operations - 4x4 and 8x2 FIFO

ATCO Frontec is hiring temporary Skilled Labourers for its Resolute Bay Operations in Resolute Bay, Nunavut, supporting construction and trades activities across multiple northern work sites in an extreme Arctic environment. This role works a 4 weeks on / 4 weeks or 8 weeks on / 2 weeks off off rotation with travel and accommodations included, assisting experienced construction and trades staff with site services, material handling, and hands-on field work such as debris removal, trenching, scaffold support, and safe operation of hand and power tools. The Resolute Bay team has operated in the region since 1970 and delivers logistics and operational support tied to initiatives such as the Polar Continental Shelf Program, Resolute Bay Weather Observation, and fuel operations supporting the hamlet and airport, with additional support to nearby communities including Eureka and Grise Fiord. The position requires a safety-first mindset, physical stamina for demanding labour tasks, and the ability to work in remote conditions while communicating clearly and reading drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

The Skilled Labourer supports ATCO Frontec’s Resolute Bay operations by assisting site services, construction, and trades teams with hands-on labour, material movement, and safe setup of temporary work structures.

  • Provide maintenance support to the Site Services team across assigned work sites.
  • Remove rubble and debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and related equipment.
  • Oil and grease hoists and similar equipment to support safe operation and upkeep.
  • Perform manual excavation and trenching using hand tools and air-operated tools.
  • Load and unload cargo and construction materials and move materials to work areas using skid steers, loaders, and pickup trucks.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades required for construction activities.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and in accordance with site procedures.
  • Assist heavy equipment operators by securing special attachments, signaling operators, and supporting equipment movement activities.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned to support operational requirements.

Requirements

Candidates should be safety-focused and physically capable of supporting construction and trades work in remote Arctic conditions, with the ability to follow drawings and work effectively as part of a team.

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role operating machinery (considered an asset).
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to perform physically strenuous and demanding work (lifting, pulling, and general labour).
  • Preparedness to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Experience working in a remote environment (considered an asset).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to build and work in a team environment with a strong commitment to personal and team safety.
