ATCO Frontec is hiring a versatile Steward to join its team in Eureka, NU. This role involves supporting culinary operations, assisting with general camp maintenance, and performing housekeeping duties. The position follows an 8 weeks on, 8 weeks off rotation, offering a unique opportunity to work in a remote Arctic environment. Responsibilities
The Steward is responsible for supporting food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a well-organized camp environment.
- Assist the Chef with basic food preparation, including washing, chopping, and peeling vegetables.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Stock food serving areas while maintaining quality and minimizing waste.
- Operate food service equipment safely and follow policies.
- Ensure food temperature logs and cleaning schedules are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and cook food according to standardized recipes.
- Clean and sanitize common areas, including restrooms and staff areas.
- Vacuum carpets, mop floors, dust furniture, and empty trash receptacles.
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toiletries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in kitchen, housekeeping, and general labor roles with a strong work ethic.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a 3rd Cook, Line Cook, General Helper, or Housekeeper.
- Valid Advanced Food Safety Certificate required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent multitasking and prioritization abilities.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
- Comfortable working in remote and extreme weather conditions.
- Availability to work rotational shifts, including extended hours as needed.
- Final candidates must pass a pre-employment alcohol & drug test, fit-to-work medical test, criminal record check, and Security Clearance Check.
