Newmont is hiring an Equipment Operator - Site Services for its Red Chris Mine, a fly-in/fly-out open-pit operation located near Dease Lake, BC, within Tahltan Nation territory. This role supports site maintenance and utility services through operation of equipment such as excavators, loaders, hydrovacs, and water/sewer trucks. The position offers a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation, full camp accommodations, nutritious meals, Wi-Fi, gym access, and a competitive hourly rate of CA$44.13. Operators contribute to infrastructure, utilities, and snow clearing while supporting pipefitters and general maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

Operate a variety of heavy equipment to support site maintenance, utilities, and infrastructure projects.

  • Operate loader, excavator, hydro-vac, gravel, and water/sewer trucks
  • Assist with general labour duties and ground crew support
  • Perform snow clearing, excavation, and fusing operations
  • Work around confined spaces and at heights
  • Support pipefitting and HDPE piping tasks as needed
  • Use computers to document tasks and communicate with teams
  • Follow all safety policies and report hazards promptly

Requirements

Applicants must be experienced equipment operators with relevant certifications and a strong safety record.

  • Valid Class 1 driver's license (required)
  • Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate (asset)
  • 5+ years of experience with loaders, excavators, low beds
  • Experience with Hydrovac and HDPE piping (preferred)
  • Crane ticket and finishing skills are assets
  • Comfortable operating equipment near ground personnel
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
